When we started our project as KISs (Sustainable Campus Community),the first thing we did was to determine the values we worked for. We defined the values in five headings as honesty, self-sacrificing approach, empathy, respect and openness to change have gained more importance for us later in the course because we realized that the success of the project depends on, in fact, achieving these values.

During our research, we realized that one of the biggest problems in our school is that people use too many plastic bottles. We started thinking about solutions to increase the number of public fountains and taps at the school when we saw that the main reason to buy bottled water is having one public fountain in the school, where people can fill up their bottles. We tried a model that could attract more people to these regions with our socialization areas established around the public fountains, which also has a place in our culture as ‘çeşmebaşı sohbetleri’

Based on the data of the research we conducted in our university, we concluded that our school students have a certain level of awareness but still have a serious potential to be developed. The first two reasons why the water treatment device is not used in the student center are the problems that our project aims to solve. Using the data we obtained and the potential of the school, we found suitable fountains, we started to create thermos designs and KISs logos that will strongly represent the identity of Koç University. At the same time we will determine the most suitable places for the fountains.
